Homework Inspirations, Committees, Campus Clean Up and MORE!

Hello!

Here is a recap of last week:

It has really been neat to witness how so many students have been stepping up to do homework shares!  It is even more exciting to see friends become inspired by their peers to work on similar homework ideas at home that they learned from their classmates' share!

A friend shared some artifacts from her trip to the La Brea tar pits.

Another friend shared about a dead snake she observed with a friend on the side of the road.  They noticed that a crow was pecking at it and it was peeling the skin off.  It still had an eye open and the skin was pinkish reddish.

Some friends modeled how to draw different styles of stars.

Through different paper creations that friends have been making, it inspired the class to make their own city!  As a group, we agreed what were some elements that were essential in a city plan.  A city planning committee worked together to decide where each element would be placed on the map and why (ex. a school would be close to houses so that kids to walk to school).

We played a division game outside where friends were asked to get into equal groups of numbers varying from 1-10.

As we approach our next field trip to the theatre, friends have been re-inspired to work on their reenactment of Marcia Brown's Stone Soup.  Different committees are working on costumes and props.

We also had a Class Council regarding friends telling other friends who to be partners with.  Check our Class Council journal for more information.

This week with our Buddies, we beat the heat by reading and chatting with them in the classrooms.  Check out our Reflection Notes to hear about how it went.

We ended our week with a Campus Clean Up.  The Hardworking Journalists tackled the fence area by the lunch tables and did a great job of helping our school!

We also celebrated a friend's special day by singing Happy Birthday, one of his favorite Maurice Sendak poems, December, giving hugs, high fives, and special messages, playing Doggy Doggy Where's Your Bone? and Mr. Fox, before eating a special treat.

Thanks for stopping by!
Love, Gaby
