Silly Birds, Beaks, Charades and MORE!!

Hello!

Enjoy going through these memories with your child to gain more insight into their week.

 Read Aloud

This week, we read two different stories that friends were able to relate with in one way or another.  Ask your child what their impressions of the tales were.  What was the problem?  How did the character come to a solution?

Art with Nikki

This week, the class studied different kinds of birds and played a game to match the different features that specific birds have.

Nikk also read a great book to help inspire the students make their next art piece.

Nature Studies with Mary

A friend brought in owl pellets to discuss and examine with our on campus Naturalist.

Friends also were able to step into the shoes of a bird and practice picking up different food with different kinds of "beaks" to place into their "bellies."

Home Excitement Shares

Friends are always encouraged to practice fun and interesting things at home and bring it to class to teach their friends about it.  Here are some snapshots about what our friends taught us.

Photosynthesis and how different colored light affects the growth of bean plants.

Tools from the past and how people used to use rocks as knives.  We compared them to the utensils we have today.

Traveling Adventures in the desert.  Creatures found in the desert, droppings, natural art, more!

Reading different books on your own.

Charades

This week, friends voted on which game they would like to play.  We used tally marks to keep track of each vote.  Charades had the most votes.  What fun games do you play at home as a family?

ST Math

Many friends had gotten stumped on a puzzle from ST Math.  The goal was to place the rocket at the end of the bar so that it would take Jiji to the top (who shows up after you position the rocket).  Friends who had already completed this puzzle helped explain to others that the rocket needs to go all the way to the right, or end, in order to catch Jiji.  We connected this to how we read from left to right, so the end is to the right, or how we count from 0 to 10, the 10 is to the right.  This helped friends see the puzzle in a different way.  When we went to the computer lab, those that came to this puzzle were more confident in how to move forward.

Robotics

Our class has started a new exploration: Robotics.  Ask your child all about it!

Family Reader

Thank you to Rose and John for being our Family Readers this week!

And thank you to Sebastien and his family for gifting this wreath to our class!

Love, Gaby
