April Songs and Poems

Hello!

Please enjoy singing these songs and poems with your child at home!  Can you tell what this month's theme was?

April

In April I will go away,
to far off Spain or old Bombay
and dream about hot soup all day.
Oh my, oh, once, oh my, oh twice,
Oh my, oh chicken soup with rice!
-by Maurice Sendak

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
(to the tune of Itsy Bitsy Spider)

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle--- words that we all know.
We have to save our planet so we can live and grow.
We might be only children but we will try you'll see.
And we can save the planet--- It starts with you and me!

Recycle
(to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle)

We recycle what we use,
Separate things and you should too!
Glass and paper, plastic, tin,
Go in your recycling bin!
We must start now, we can't wait,
Quick or it will be too late!

Big Yellow Taxi

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Hey farmer farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

I said, Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
-by Joni Mitchell
