Our Last Week Before Break

Nature Studies with Mary

Mary was kind enough to write up this short blurb about what the students have been working on with her: "We finished up our reptile unit by learning about snakes.  Students were introduced to vocabulary like “glottis,” “Jacobsen’s Organ,” and “eye scale.”  Most students became comfortable enough to handle a rosy boa.  They also drew an illustration of a snake from memory, and then made a labeled scientific illustration while looking at a real snake."

"During the other week of Nature Studies, students had the choice of doing a project around the garden (litter pick-up, path-marking, etc.) or exploring with bug boxes.  Many students chose to do both."

Art with Nikki

Friends worked on creating 3-D sculptures and reflected on their work.

Teacher Appreciation Potluck

Thank you to all of the IA families that treated our staff to a DELICIOUS potluck!!  There was too much good stuff!!

Thank you to Hope, Calvin's mom, for making these comfy cushions for our classroom benches!

They finished!!  Technically, they couldn't make their structure touch the ceiling because the next cardboard roll was too big.  It would have pushed the ceiling panel out!

P.E. with Coach Curry

Thank you to Amanda and Fey for being our Family Readers this week!

Love, Gaby
