Making Connections, Gaining Skills, Group Work and MORE!

Hello friends and families,

Here are some snap shots of our first week together.  Take some time to look through these photos together to get your child's insight on their experience.  Enjoy!

Large Motor Exercise and Play

The playground is where our friends have been finding ways to play different games together, work out problems, and get in some exercise.  What does your child enjoy to do outside of class?

We took a tour around the school to get familiar with different parts of campus and to meet some special staff members.  We got a chance to enter the Solution Center to meet Jennifer, our school's counselor, and Patrick, our school's Spanish teacher.

Journaling Time

Our first journaling entry prompt was to help us get to know each other by sharing "Something We Do Not Know About You."  Many friends shared about who was in their family.  Come in and check them out when you can!

Fine Motor Skills Practice

This week we had Guided Discoveries of the coloring tools, scissors and glue.  Ask your child what were some of the agreements we came up with about organizing our crayons, colored pencils, and markers, as well as how we use our glue sticks.  Can they show you their pencil grip?  Keep practicing at home!

Language and Math Games

Friends played Secret Sounds and Secret Numbers.  Ask your child how to play and you can make your own game at home!

Tree Observations

We examined a tree outside of school and shared our observations with friends before documenting our findings in our journals.  Come in to check out what your child noticed.

Thank you to Bethel's dad, Murray, and her grandfather, Ed, for being our first Family Readers!  The children really enjoyed listening to your stories from home.

Stories we read together this week include:  In Mother's Lap, Grandma Calls Me Beautiful, While I Am Little, Danny and the Dinosaur, The Lotus Seed, and Puff the Magic Dragon.

Thank you for a beautiful first week!  I look forward to MANY more to come!
Love, Gaby

    1. Hola from San Diego! Thank you for connecting with us, Allen. This is one of the reason why I love doing the Weekly Blog Post; this way family and friends can get a glimpse into all of our adventures in Kindergarten. I'm glad to hear that you are interested in keeping up with Scarlett's journey. I believe that if you Subscribe to this blog, you will get notifications emailed to you. Just be sure to adjust your SPAM settings. Other than that, you might ask Rose or Bernie to forward you the link when they get it, if they don't mind.

      Keep in touch!
      Gaby
