"Kindergarten is fun!"

Hello families!

What an exciting first week of school!  I have really enjoyed getting to know your children and hearing as well as seeing all of their great ideas.  Did you know that you have some of the most helpful, brave, and friendly children I have ever come to know?  These friends are making such quick connections with each other, it is really sweet to see.

Here are some snapshots of our week.  Blogger is being silly and not letting me post up all the pictures I wanted to share.  I'll have to figure it out and add them later....

While reading our Morning Message, friends were already recognizing words that they know!  They even brought up the topic of Silent e's!  I was so excited that on our 2nd day of school, we were already getting into  how tricky the English language can be and how the silent e breaks the rule sometimes.  Friends were even noticing silent e's in their names!
During our lunch and recess breaks, friends have been doing a great job of taking care of each other, sharing the space, and keeping our school looking beautiful!
Open Choice time has been full of making new discoveries, documenting their theories, teamwork, and slowing down to make your work look beautiful!  Be sure to come in and ask your child to show you what work they did that day!
Keighley shared her mom with us this Thursday to be our Family Reader.  Friends practiced being listeners and enjoyed one of this family's favorite stories!

All in all, it has been a lovely first week (besides the unbearable heat!).  Thank you again for all of your contributions to our class.  Your presence is much appreciated!
I hope you had a great Surprise Three Day Weekend!

Love, Gaby
